Mistakes That Can Cost You Your Job

Your resume tells your story and sell your talents. Badly written or composed resume will work against you. To avoid this, we note the most egregious mistakes.

1)Submitting a resume template

To download a template from the Internet, change the highlights and send the employer is fundamentally the wrong approach. Personalized resume focused on the needs of the target audience. So if the job description requires market analysis and planning, it is a good idea to use real examples of content analysis.

2) Complex styles and formatting

Formatting is the key to the heart of the employer. Do not let the wrong use of fonts and graphics alter the general style of decoration and distract
the reader from what is really important (for e.g your qualifications). If you intend to use the markers list, they must be of the same size and shape in each section. Boring formulations will drive any reader to sleep. Be creative.

3) Using vague language

When you are too wordy and vague, the employer will not be able to understand what message you are trying to deliver. This can make your
exact focused competitor (fellow applicant) to kick you out of this
game. Always highlight your achievements.

4) Attempts to cram as much text on one page

There are no hard and fast rules about the length of the job, although the average employers prefer graduates resume at a rate of one page, while more experienced workers, in an amount of at least two pages. When you try to condense your employment history and skills in multiple pages, select the achievements that most relate to the basic job duties and corporate values of the company.

5) Grammatical errors and typos

There should be no room for sloppiness. Employers see resume with typos as one of the best mistakes to automatically reject the
candidate. Therefore, read your resume carefully to eliminate any typos.

6) The transfer of incorrect information

This may seem obvious, but a mistake in the phone number, or any date can ruin your chances. So if you suddenly write that detail-oriented resume, and the employer finds incorrect information in the summary, for him it will be a big red flag. Even if incorrect information is not revealed in the interview stage, in the end it still will come up you.

7. No exact dates of previous employment

Employers determining resumes say that no exact dates of employment history is seen as one of the most
common mistakes that can lead to automatic rejection of the candidate.

8) Bad choice of a referee

A referee person who barely knows  you makes the potential employer to question your ability to understand people, ability to
build professional relationships. Do not ask someone to act as a referee you, if you are not sure that he can represent you. Employers usually check the recommendations as the last step before you make an offer.

9) Lack of a list of skills

The list of skills and examples of how you used these skills can be used as a great way to stand out from the crowd
