for Teaching & Learning (CTL) is recruiting for highly qualified and
motivated US teachers to teach at Center for Teaching & Learning
(CTL) Academy, Abuja. We recruit certified teachers
with classroom experience in elementary and secondary schools. Ideally,
CTL teachers will have expertise in one or more of our focus areas:
• Reading Fluency
• Learning Style Differences
• Multiple Intelligences
• Constructivist Teaching/Learning
• Student-centered Teaching
• Integrating Technology in the Classroom
• Thematic TeachingCurriculum Development
• Project-based Learning
• Individualized/ differentiated Instruction
In addition to professional experience and expertise, we seek to recruit teachers who are passionate and excited by the potential of the CTL experience to be truly transformative in their personal and professional life. CTL is led by the value of being open, authentic and honest in personal and professional interactions with students, colleagues, and self. CTL Teachers are required to:
• Believe in the mission and values of CTL and subscribe to the Six Pillars of Character(Fairness, Caring, Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Citizenship) of our Character Counts! program
• Hold high expectations for each student
• Assist in development of curriculum standards and mapping
• Maintain a neat, clean classroom environment and a professional personal appearance
• Serve on school committees as needed
• Attend all staff meetings
• Attend all professional development activities
• Create and teach challenging and engaging lesson linked to adopted standards
• Perform morning, lunch, and afternoon duties as assigned
• Perform clerical/ administrative duties, as required, relating to instructional supplies, student reports, textbooks, and records, attendance reports, etc.
• Remain on call in the evenings to provide student support
• Pass a medical and criminal background check, as required by law
• Possess a strong knowledge of content area
• Demonstrate strong pedagogy
• Implement the school-wide student management policies (as described in the CTL policy manual provided) within classrooms and everywhere on campus
• Exhibit positive rapport with students
• Create and foster a positive learning environment
• Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents
• Be available for Open Houses, Parent-Teacher Conferences and other events involving parents
